Australian investment group Prime Value Asset Management has acquired the VDL dairies outside the boundary of the Woolnorth dairy aggregation located at Smithton in Tasmania’s North West. Comprising part of the outer ring of the historic Woolnorth property the properties were previously held by the Van Dairy organisation.

Comprising an area of 2,200 ha (5,436 ac approx.) in total, the 12 farms were sold with an estimated 5000 cows and yearlings.

11 properties were sold to Prime Value Asset Management, a Melbourne based boutique fund manager which already owns dairy farms in Victoria and Tasmania, with the remaining property selling to a neighbouring landholder.

Selling agent Tony Maguire from Nutrien Harcourts, listed the properties on behalf of Mr Xianfeng Lu of Van Dairy earlier this year as a Private Treaty, attracting numerous interested parties resulting in multiple offers. Mr Lu purchased the Woolnorth property in 2016

“I appreciate the opportunity and faith given to me by Mr Lu to market and finalise the sale of these 12 farms. They attracted considerable attention and once again showed why this area is so sought after for all farming enterprises.” Says Maguire.

“Tasmania’s Circular Head region offers one of the premium farmland climates in Australia, and continues to attract agricultural investment at all levels”
